The paragraph is about the poem which is from the film called "10 things I hate about you".
"I hate the way you're always right
I hate it when you lie
I hate it when you make me laugh" here we can here that her voice chainges into a "hold in" tone because at "Even worse when you make me cry" actually she starts to cry so the whole point in this poem is to tell what she's feeling also her tone helps us to understand that she is telling the truth.

Forshadowing is when you hint what's going to happen in the story and also at the end.
The Sound of Thunder uses forshadowing to make it more interesting and make the reader to feel read more.
For example in the start the writer wrote down
"TIME SAFARI, INC.
SAFARIS TO ANY YEAR IN THE PAST.
YOU NAME THE ANIMAL.
WE TAKE YOU THERE.
YOU SHOOT IT."
this for using forshadowing to hint whats gonna happen.
